In this case, we would go with the UV700 model. This model has some of sharks’ latest cleaning technology such as the duo clean technology and the self-cleaning brush roll.

The only drawback is the UV700 model doesn’t have as large a dust cup capacity as the UV550 model.

What is Duo Clean Technology

The implementation of duo clean technology (allows for more efficient cleaning on both hardwood floors and carpets.

The dual brush roll allows the vacuum to pick up large particles, small particles and stuck-on dust that you would usually find on hardwood floors.

The bristle brush is ideal for cleaning carpets and the soft brush roll pulls in larger particles and work on floors to provide a more polished look. The UV550 model does not have this feature.

What is Zero M Cleaning Brushroll

Most of us are familiar with the problem, of hair wrapping around the brush roll of our vacuums and having to manually remove the hair.

Shark has alleviated this problem with the Zero M self-cleaning brushroll. As their slogan says “we remove the hair wrapped around the brush roll so you don’t have to”.

The self-cleaning brush roll has a series of protrusions that constantly remove hair from the brush roll as you vacuum. The UV550 model does not have this feature.

What is Liftaway

Both the UV700 and the UV550 models have the liftaway mode. Lift-Away means that the main unit can be detached from the wand at the click of a button, turning your upright vacuum into a portable.

CONS

Who is this vacuum best suited for?

This is not one of sharks most advanced models. Actually it is pretty basic. You don’t have duo clean technology or the self-cleaning brush roll. Its main claim to fame is it has a large dust cup holder.

However, if you are looking for a no-frills vacuum that tends to be reasonably price this is a pretty good option.

Conclusion

As we stated above we prefer the UV700 because it has the latest shark vacuuming technology.

Please keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with the UV550 model. It is adequate for most of your cleaning needs and keep in mind it is usually cheaper.

If you happen to find the UV700 model at a cheaper price though go for it!
