There comes a time in your life when you simply start realizing that all you are doing is piling up stuff all around your home, buying little things that are handy but rarely used.

Somehow it happened that all the things that you own, you actually need (obviously not every day) and since you can’t really live by the ‘less is more‘ philosophy, here are some tips and trick on how to create additional storage in your bedroom to put away all the rarely used items.
Under the bed storing
The easiest way to ensure more space in a bedroom is to use up the empty space underneath your bed. You can create a lot of storage under the bed for all the things that you rarely use or you need to put them away for the season.

The best thing about it is that you can come up with a customized DIY project suitable for the free space you have, or you can create space by raising your bed and making storage drawers – containers underneath it.
Use the walls
If you have a small bedroom and not enough space for a lot of furniture for storing the perfect solution for you is to create wall-mounted shelving system.
This way you will use the vertical for storing your possessions, and the floors will stay free which will make your room appear bigger.
Just make sure not to overcrowd shelves because the room will look cluttered and it will prevent good energy flow.
Another creative idea with wall mounted shelving system is using up the 12 inches of a wall below the ceiling where you can put away storage boxes or similar things you don’t need/use often.
Install the shelves on the bedroom walls and you will get a lot of storing space that won’t get in your way.
Organize your drawers
Maximize the space in your drawers by using organizers. Placing these modular drawer organizers will help you separate the stuff in the drawers to make it more visible (you will finally be able to see what you have and quickly find what you need).

You can also build them on your own and make them perfect for your needs.
Downsizing is the key
The most important thing is to downsize the number of things you own – to get rid of the items you never use.
You can either choose affordable moving quotes, and safely store all the un-necessities for ‘just in case of moving’ situation, or donate or even sell the things you don’t need.
With fewer things, it will be much easier to organize the house and solve the storage problem.
Radiator cover storage
If you have those old-school radiators that are just taking up space (since we use it just during winter) that you simply hate, don’t despair.

You can DIY a radiator shelf that you can use for storing small items and the plus side is that it will completely hide that hideous metal thing that we can’t live without a few months a year.
Additionally, you can buy a cover with attached shelving that will save your time and your hands if you’re not really handy for the DIY.
Mini foldable bedroom office
Installing a fold-down office desk in your bedroom will give you so much space when it’s folded that the room will not only appear bigger but you will feel better with all the positive energy flowing through your minimalistic bedroom.
Buying a foldable desk chair is also a great way to save space since you can hang it on the wall when you’re not using it.
If you create a wall shelf with a folding table incorporated in it you will have a perfect storing solution for your mini bedroom – home office.
These are simple tricks that you can DIY and create much more free space in your bedroom. Keep in mind that the more organized space is the more items can fit it and make sure to get rid of the unnecessary belongings because downsizing is a key for small space storing solutions!
