In this case we would go with the nv752 model. This model has the powered liftaway feature and a larger variety of accessories. These accessories are extremely useful if you have pets. If you want to purchase a cheaper model and these features are not important to you purchase the nv501 model.

What is Powered Liftaway

The powered liftaway means you can detach the canister pod so you can clean hard to reach areas while still delivering power to keep the brush roll spinning.

This feature gives you more maneuverability when using the vacuum to reach hard to reach areas such as under couches or when cleaning above-ground areas. A plus is you still maintain the same vacuuming power.

What is the difference between powered liftaway and liftaway

The liftaway feature that is available in the nv501 model means that the unit can be detached from the wand at the click of a button, turning your upright vacuum into a portable. In the liftaway mode there is no power in the brush roll.

Powered Lift Away (NV752 model) delivers power directly to the brush roll head even in Lift Away mode.

Side by Side Showdown: Shark NV501 vs NV752

These two vacuums are very similar and have minor differences. The main difference is the powered liftaway feature.

  • Cleaning Performance (Winner nv752) – We rated the nv752 model the winner because of the power liftaway feature. If you have to clean a lot of hard to reach areas you will appreciate this feature.
  • Weight & Dust Cup Capacity (Tie) – Both vacuums have a similar weight and dust cup capacity.
  • Maneuverability ( nv752) – Both of these vacuums have the liftaway feature. However, the NV752 has a powered liftaway feature so I would give it a slight edge.
  • Accessories (nv752) – The nv752 comes with a larger variety of accessories. This makes the vacuum more versatile.
  • Cost (nv501) – The nv501 model is cheaper than the nv752 model.
