Shark Rocket Complete Duo Clean Detailed Review

This vacuum works well on both hardwood floors and carpets and it also has accessories that make it ideal for cleaning up pet hair.

The beauty of this vacuum is you can use it to clean everything. You can clean ceiling fans, you can use it as a car vacuum, you can use it to clean carpets, or your book cases, vents, drapes etc.

Duoclean Technology

The main thing that differentiates the Shark HV382 from its predecessors the Shark HV322 and the Shark Rocket 302 is the DuoClean technology.

This new feature provide better cleaning power since there are now two brushes working in unision. One soft brush and a sturdier brush.

The soft brush pulls in dirt and debris and the other sturdier brush agitates dirt and debris which is sucked into the vacuum.

These two brushes working in unison allows the vacuum to be more effective in picking up large debris as well as stuck on debris.

On soft carpets the soft brushroll pulls in large particles and the main sturdier brush roll removes embedded dirt from the carpet.

On Hardwood floors the soft roll removes stuck on dust on hardfloors and the debris is sucked into the vacuum.

You usually find that most vacuums scatter large debris instead of sucking it up, especially on hardwood floors. The duoclean design alleviates this problem.

Brushroll Garage

One thing that received rave reviews from purchasers was the fact that it was easy to access the brushroll.

There are two buttons on the top of the vacuum simply press them and the top part of the vacuum will easily detach. You can then take out the brush roll and clean it if need be.

This is a definite advantage over older Shark Rocket models where you would have to unscrew the plate to get access to the brush.

You can also click the eject roll button on the side of the vacuum if you want to remove the soft roll brush for cleaning.

Cleaning Performance on Hardwood Floors

Because of the soft brush roller at the front this vacuum does not snowplough the debris. Instead the soft brush rolls pulls in the large debris and the suction pulls it into the vacuum.

The shark DuoClean is one of the best shark vacuums for hardwood floors.

Cleaning Performance on Carpets

The Shark DuoClean vacuums tends to perform better on hardwood floor. The vacuum also does well on carpets. You can adjust the suction power depending on what type of carpet you have

Ease of Use

The vacuum is very low so you can easy get access under beds and other low areas. The vacuum is also easy to maneuver.

The power cord is very long for this type of vacuum so you don’t have to worry about unplugging and plugging the vacuum constantly.

The power head on the shark rocket has two setting: high speed for cleaning carpets and a low speed for cleaning hardwood floors and delicate rugs.

Performance on Stairs

You can use the actual unit on stairs. The cleaning path is quite narrow so you can run it along the stairs. You can also just use the hand vacuum on stairs.

Weight

This vacuum is lightweight coming in at 9.1 lbs. It is slightly heavier than its predecessors the Shark HV322 and the Shark HV302. Some reviewers have complained that the vacuum feels top heavy.

Accessories

The shark vacuum comes with a wide array of tools and attachments. You have an upholstery brush with little pickers which is great for curtains etc.

There is also a Pet multi tool brush that is ideal for cleaning up pet hair. Another handy accessory is the duster and crevice tool for cleaning those hard to reach nooks and crannys where dirt tends to accumulate.

Performance with Pet hair

The vacuum comes with a True Pet Multi Tool which is good at picking up pet hair from upholstery etc.

Price

This vacuum price wise is a bit expensive compared to other Shark Rocket vacuums. Your best bet would be to wait until Amazon offers a discount on the product.

Dust Cup

The dust cup size is .91 dry quartz. This vacuum dust cup is twice the size of the Shark HV302 vacuum. This dust cup is easy to remove simply press the dust cup button to release the dust cup. The dust cup is also extremely easy to clean.

LED lights

Similar to the HV322 this model also has LED lights on the floor nozzle and the hand vac. According to Shark the LED lights will last the life of the vacuum.

Wall Mount

This vacuum cannot stand up on its own. It does however come with a handy wall mount that you can attach the vacuum to in your storage area.

Shark HV322 vs HV382 : How do they Compare?

Shark HV 380 vs 381 vs 382, What is the difference?

According to shark there is no difference between these units, they are all in the same series. Shark stated that the difference in model numbers usually means there is a difference in color or where it can be purchased.

The Verdict

If you are looking for lightweight stick vacuum to clean a small area we recommend this vacuum. Shark has definitely upped it a notch with their DuoClean technology.

This vacuum performs well on all floors but is particularly outstanding on hardwood floors. Additionally, this vacuum doesn’t have the ploughing effect that some other vacuums have where instead of sucking in debris it simply moves it around.

The only drawback we feel we should mention about this vacuum is that it doesn’t stand up on its own and the dust cup is small so you might have to empty it frequently.
